Sony Interactive Entertainment had another big day in store for their fans with the September 2021 PlayStation Showcase. They revealed and displayed several major titles like Gran Turismo 7, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and more. However, The Load Screen is excited about several other announcements made throughout the event. Check out the PlayStation showcase complete recap page for the entire list of features displayed.

The Marvel universe, along with several developers, had a giant spotlight for the show. Square Enix is hard at work producing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and its new trailer showed off what the dynamic squad is best known for comical plans that leave the heroes in the worst situations. On the serious side of Marvel, Insomniac Games gave fans a taste of Wolverine and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The new Spider-Man offers twice the superheroes and one of his greatest adversaries of all time in the infamous Venom.

PlayStation’s showcase gave everyone the first look at Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - Remake developed by Aspyr Media in conjunction with Lucasfilm Games. While the trailer offered a beautiful cutscene of the title’s main protagonist, no gameplay shows up in the feature. Later in the showcase, one of the Aspyr Media developers spoke more about updating mechanics as well. The PlayStation Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake article has extended information on the new game, including the fact that it launches as a PS5 console exclusive.

Gamers also got to see further details from Santa Monica Studio on God of War: Ragnarök. Kratos and Atreus have aged several years from the last game, and the intense detailing of familiar and new characters shines in the trailer. The father and son duo are now at odds with handling the coming apocalypse, with the elder wishing to stay out of the conflict entirely. New moves with a shield and better controls over attacks also popped out in the preview, and Atreus gets more than a bow in this one. The full reveal is on display in the Santa Monica Studio discusses the new God of War post and even further details of where the story goes.

Although there were many AAA reveals and first looks, The Load Screen is most excited for the showcase of Forspoken. Another collaboration between studios brings Square Enix with Luminous Productions for an epic fantasy adventure with a quirky female protagonist named Frey. A tough young woman from New York City finds herself pulled into the magical world of Athia. She will battle monsters and mysteries to free the land from the gnarled hands of the matriarchal Tantas. Find out more from the creative producer at Luminous Productions in the PlayStation Journey with Frey article.

Sony did not just showcase games this September; they also promoted a unique interactive experience from Epic Games and Radiohead. On the Epic Games Store Kid A Mnesia Exhibition page, they list the event as “an upside-down digital/analogue universe created from original artwork and recordings to commemorate 21 years of Radiohead’s Kid A and Amnesiac.” Get in on the action in November, but Radiohead has a live pre-order page for the three albums accompanying the experience on the kida-mnesia website.

The latest Sony Livestream featured a ton of content that will come to PlayStation and PC but focused mainly on console exclusives for PS5. Expect most titles by early next year, but a few were still in the early stages of development, like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake and Wolverine. The showcase hit many marks but teased Aloy as an Easter egg in a video early on. Hopefully, the following Sony event will give Horizon: Forbidden West a new trailer.
